Chelsea supporters were highly offended by social media outlets who compared Olivier Giroud’s goal to Dele Alli’s for Tottenham Hotspur.
Both players scored acrobatic bicycle kicks for their respective clubs in a European knock-out tie.
Giroud bagged the Blues winner against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Dele netted the first in a 4-0 Spurs Europa League second-leg victory over Wolfsberger last night.
Some on Twitter thought the Tottenham version was better, but Chelsea fans completely disagreed.
Their main argument was that Giroud managed to knock his audacious effort past Jan Oblak, arguably the best goalkeeper in world football.
He also managed to foil the La Liga leaders, who are renowned for their defensive organisation.
Plus, the tie was still in the balance until Chelsea’s French forward flew through the air.

This ensured Thomas Tuchel’s side secured a crucial away goal for the reverse fixture at Stamford Bridge
Meanwhile, Dele was doing his business in a dead rubber match.
Tottenham were already 4-1 up from their opening game with Wolfsberger, who are currently fifth in the Austrian first division.
Although the strikes were similar in their spectacular nature, Giroud’s was certainly scored on a bigger stage, against a stronger opponent.

I almost want to give Spurs their moment in the spotlight.
It was a tidy finish from Dele and maybe he did execute it better than Giroud.
But let’s be honest, it really wasn’t the better goal!
