‘Deserves better’: Some Chelsea fans credit their ‘outstanding’ player despite 3-2 loss v West Ham

Chelsea were beaten away at West Ham on Saturday afternoon – but some Blues fans on Twitter did at least find a positive in the display from Mason Mount.

The Blues suffered a 3-2 away loss at the London Stadium in the Premier League, which means they could drop from first to third by the end of the day depending on results elsewhere.

Thiago Silva’s header just short of the half hour mark put the visitors ahead before Manuel Lanzini equalised from the penalty spot.

Mount, who was Chelsea’s standout individual, put his side in front on the stroke of half time with a memorable side-footed volley.

However, Jarrod Bowen and Arthur Masuaku both scored second-half goals for West Ham to give them three points.

Thomas Tuchel’s side have now won just two of their previous five league matches, so they’ve been given another wake-up call going into the hectic winter schedule.

A selection of Blues supporters on social media believe Mount stood out in a positive way in a losing cause.

The 22-year-old attacking midfielder grabbed a goal and assist for the second game in succession.

He’s looking back to his very best as a creative threat. Also, some of the work off the ball was superb and teammates can look to him as an example.

The England international has been patient at times this campaign, but he’s now beginning to show why he was the club’s player of the year last season.

It was an extremely frustrating result against a London rival, but Mount’s revival is a major plus.
