Alan Brazil berated Graham Potter for including Trevoh Chalobah in the Chelsea XI against Fulham last night.

Speaking on talkSPORT after the Blues suffered a rare defeat at Craven Cottage, Brazil simultaneously slated Chalobah’s contribution to the result and his position in the team.

The 23-year-old returned to the side at Craven Cottage yesterday, having been on the bench for the previous two Premier League games.

He had begun the FA Cup defeat away to Manchester City in the preceding match as a right-back, but reverted to a central defender in a back three on Thursday.

His time out of the team was telling, as the academy graduate endured an uncharacteristically poor performance.

Trevoh Chalobah fumbles at Fulham

Chalobah could’ve arguably done a lot more for both goals that ultimately handed Fulham the victory.

Willian’s goal deflected off the centre-back, having picked up the ball from a cross that was not properly cleared by the same culprit.

Chelsea drew level through Kalidou Koulibaly almost straight after the restart, but were behind again due to more dodgy defending.

Andreas Pereira’s pin point cross picked out Carlos Vinicius, who was allowed to jump and head into the net unchallenged by Chalobah and Thiago Silva.

“Defensively they are diabolical. Chalobah, I don’t know what he’s doing in the side,” slammed Brazil following another damming defensive display from the Blues.

“Chalobah tries to step up and be clever, rather than mark,” continued the former striker whilst dissecting the second goal.

With Benoit Badiashile now part of the senior squad, and Chelsea reportedly looking at other centre-backs, Chalobah might be nervously looking over his shoulder.
