Fikayo Tomori did not believe Ruben Loftus-Cheek when he told him that he was leaving Chelsea to join AC Milan.

The 27-year-old reunited with his former Chelsea teammate at the San Siro in the summer and has been speaking about his move to Italy.

Talking to Tomori in a video shared by AC Milan on their Dailymotion channel, Loftus-Cheek said: “Yes, but you still didn’t believe me [about the move] though.”

Tomori then responded by saying: “Yes, I didn’t believe you. Then I remember, when it started coming out on the internet, people were asking me and I was like, ‘You lot, I’m not even gonna lie. Yeah, Ruben is English and that and he asked me a bit and he said to me he’s probably gonna come, but I don’t believe him. I just want to be honest. I don’t believe it.’ “

Loftus-Cheek was not the only player who swapped Chelsea for Milan during the summer transfer window. Christian Pulisic also left Stamford Bridge for the San Siro and has made an instant impact there, scoring two goals in his first three games.

AC Milan a good move for Ruben Loftus-Cheek

In the end, Loftus-Cheek probably just wanted to be at a club where he is getting regular starts, and it looks like that will be the theme at Milan.

The England international has been included in Stefano Pioli’s first XI for all three of the Italian club’s Serie A matches so far.

Not only is Loftus-Cheek playing, but he is starting at a powerhouse of European football. There, he has also been reunited with Tomori and Olivier Giroud — now all teammates again — so the midfielder and Pulisic have friends in the dressing room.

All things considered, then, Loftus-Cheek’s switch to Milan looks like a really good move for him.

Coming through Chelsea’s academy, there would have been many who would have wanted Loftus-Cheek to stay. But with the Blues having signed Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, they probably will not cry forever.
