‘Doesn’t exist’: Chelsea fans worried for 26-year-old after Tuchel overlooks him in interview

Chelsea supporters showed concern after Emerson Palmieri was not mentioned by Thomas Tuchel during a discussion about his left-back options.

The Metro repeated Tuchel’s comments about how Ben Chilwell and Marcos Alonso were vying for the same spot.

Emerson was seemingly excluded from the conversation and some fans feared the worse.

The 26-year-old has only made two Premier League appearances this year and just ten in total across all competitions.

Sky Sports predicted that Emerson would be the player most susceptible to a transfer in January’s transfer window.

Nothing came to pass and he still remains part of Chelsea’s bulging squad. Tuchel now has three left backs to try and keep happy but it’s quite clear who will earn his preference.

Alonso and Chilwell have both featured in the new managers maiden games in charge, but Emerson’s inclusion seems a long way away.

3-4-2-1 is the desired formation Tuchel is trying to deploy at Chelsea. Alonso appears most suitable for this style but Chilwell has played this way before with England.

This leaves Emerson as the outlier and potential fall guy for the system. His days at Stamford Bridge may be numbered.

The Chelsea Chronicle View

I think in the interest of both parties Emerson should be allowed to leave. This wouldn’t have been the case had Frank Lampard still be in charge because he clearly rated Emerson over Alonso.

Tuchel has opposing views and I doubt they’ll change any time soon.
