Chelsea star Cole Palmer says he wasn’t shocked by Raheem Sterling’s performance in their side’s 4-1 win against Burnley yesterday.

Raheem Sterling was the star of the show, winning a penalty and scoring a goal, but Cole Palmer has told Chelsea’s official website that no one on the team was surprised by what they saw from the winger at Turf Moor.

The Blues’ victory versus Vincent Kompany’s men was just their third in the Premier League so far this season.

As well as winning a penalty and getting his name on the scoresheet, Sterling also created the first goal, as it was his ball into the box that Ameen Al-Dakhil fired into his own net.

Cole Palmer not surprised by Raheem Sterling

On Sterling’s latest display, Palmer said: “Raz put in an amazing performance but it doesn’t surprise us because we know how talented he is as a player.

“We know what he can bring to the team in terms of goals and assists and he’s shown just what he’s capable of today. We’re all delighted for him and hopefully we can build on this performance as a team after the international break.”

Cole Palmer also impressed

Palmer can also be pleased with his own performance. It was the English attacking midfielder who converted the penalty Sterling had won before he set up Nicolas Jackson’s goal and Chelsea’s fourth of the afternoon.

Early signs suggest that Chelsea have picked up quite a good player from Manchester City.

The 21-year-old just needs to keep it up, especially with some tough games to come.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have London derbies against Brentford and Arsenal before the end of the month.

In November, they then take on Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City. It is why the likes of Palmer and Sterling cannot afford to let their level drop after the international break, otherwise it could be a very long and cold winter for Chelsea this season.
