Stuart Pearce has warned Chelsea that there may be more to Reece James‘s injury than meets the eye.
It was a great night for Chelsea yesterday by beating AC Milan 2-0 at the San Siro in the Champions League group stages, but an injury scare has left supporters waiting very anxiously.
James, who was playing superbly, was substituted off in the second-half with a knee problem.
The 22-year-old right wing-back initially carried on playing after landing awkwardly on his knee, but shortly after he did come off the field.
Graham Potter confirmed after the match that it was “too early” to give any kind of update and they would need to wait between 24 and 48 hours.

Reece James injury
TalkSPORT pundit and former England player Pearce delivered a worrying message about Chelsea’s injured star.
He believes Blues supporters can’t take any sort of clue from the fact James did manage to continue playing for a short spell before being removed from the pitch.
“He’s in such a good vein of form. I was waxing lyrical about him in the first-half,” Pearce told talkSPORT.
“His energy, his drive, his commitment. Let’s hope it’s nothing too serious.
“We saw him jar his knee. The fact that he carried on, don’t be fooled by that.
“With knee ligaments, sometimes you can have quite a serious injury and you carry on with it by running in straight lines.
“I really hope it’s only precautionary.”

It’s absolutely torture for everyone associated with Chelsea waiting to hear the outcome of a scan on James’ knee. England will be holding their breath waiting on the result so close to the World Cup, too.
His form so far this season has been simply outstanding, proving that he continues to get better.
Chelsea’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang even recently described him as “the best in the world” right now.
