Pundit Jamie O’Hara has spoken of his anger of Frank Lampard’s response to his tactics against Real Madrid last night.

He told TalkSport that it did not seem difficult to start players who have a history of scoring goals when Chelsea were chasing a two-goal deficit.

The first leg result at the Bernabeu made it already very difficult to imagine the Blues advancing to the semi-finals of the Champions League.

However, when the team was announced last night it left supporters fearing the worst, with Kai Havertz the only recognised forward.

Despite some first half chances, Chelsea fell well short of what was needed to carry out a sensational comeback.

O’Hara furious with Lampard

Lampard after the game made a point of how the opening to the game defended his team selection, however O’Hara has claimed that he got things wrong.

He said: “You’re talking about how we didn’t take our chances, you know why I picked the team because we had energy in the side. You didn’t pick any players that can score and you’re 2-0 down! What are you expecting to get out of a game when you’ve got players on a football pitch that can run around like headless chickens, but can’t score.

“I mean it’s really not rocket science. You’ve got goalscorers on the bench, you picked Conor Gallagher and N’golo Kante to play up front with kai Havertz who can’t hit a barn door!

“Joao Felix, Raheem Sterling, Mason Mount. I know they’re not blessed with goalscorers at the moment, but don’t come and do an interview after the game saying we picked a team that had loads of energy. Of course you have loads of energy – you’re playing Real Madrid in the Champions League. It drives me mad.”

Lampard will now face some tough questions when selecting his next teams, given there is very little to play for in the Premier League now.
