Didier Deschamps was once again full of compliments for Chelsea midfielder N’golo Kante in his latest France press conference.
There cannot be many superlatives left to describe the 30-year-old, but people continue to come up with new ways to praise him.
Kante is on course for a fantastic individual year both domestically and internationally.
A Champions League winners medal already hangs inside his trophy cabinet, which could soon be joined by the European Championship.
France face Switzerland in the round of 16 later today, a tie they are expected to win.
With Kante in attendance, Le Blues have every possibility of progressing.
Compliments from the coach
Deschamps didn’t shy away from hyping up Chelsea’s miniature enforcer ahead of their knockout bout with the Swiss.
“With N’Golo, he deserves all the recognition he gets,” said the former defender.
“For a coach, it’s a dream, for his teammates too. He is a driving force in the team.
“It’s about what he does on the pitch, because you can be as humble as you want to be, but if you don’t have the quality on the pitch you don’t get that reputation.
“Yes, he’s humble, he’s a nice guy, and as a coach it’s a privilege to have a player like that, and also for the whole team.
“He’s not the most expressive, vocally expressive guy, but what he does on the pitch is really essential for the France team and all the teams where he has played and is playing now.“
Defeat the Swiss and France will be one to step closer to global domination.
Which would mean one step closer to a probable Ballon d’Or nomination for Kante.
It is still too soon to predict the outcome for the team or the player, but both scenarios have plenty of weight behind them.
