Chelsea’s squad is filled with some of the most talented and exciting young players in the world. Therefore, Eden Hazard’s selection for his current Chelsea five-a-side team is very intriguing.

The Blues have invested heavily to assemble the current group, so you would expect it to be stacked with ability.

Even though it’s been an average start to the 2025/26 campaign, Enzo Maresca’s side did win two trophies last season. It is frustrating for supporters that Maresca’s concern with the Chelsea squad is that it is not strong enough right now to compete across both the Premier League and Champions League.

At the moment, the squad may look thinner than it is because of multiple injuries to key individuals.

Eden Hazard picks current Chelsea five-a-side team

Eden Hazard, the Chelsea legend, has weighed in with his opinion on the current Blues squad.

When asked to pick his best five-a-side team made up of current players at Stamford Bridge, Hazard said via Chelsea’s TikTok: “I’m going to go with [Moises] Caicedo. Cole Palmer, of course. Reece James. [Marc] Cucurella, I like him. I’m going to go with [Liam] Delap the new striker.”

Fans may not be surprised to see Cole Palmer, Reece James and Moises Caicedo feature. It is a nice surprise to see Marc Cucurella and Liam Delap get a special mention from a club icon, though.

Cucurella loves his role in Maresca’s XI, where he’s up and down the pitch with great energy. At the moment, he belongs in the conversation as one of the top left-backs around.

On the opposite flank, Blues captain James is keeping himself fit in 2025 and reminding everyone of his elite ability at right-back.

Hazard, who’s nominated for the Premier League Hall of Fame, left behind an incredible legacy during his playing career. It included a remarkable seven-year spell in Chelsea colours between 2012 and 2019.

Of course, so many Blues stars idolise the Belgian icon because he’s one of the best attackers to call Stamford Bridge their home. Back in September 2024, Palmer admitted he would have loved to play with Hazard.

In many ways, Palmer has picked up the Hazard mantle at Chelsea as the talisman capable of winning a football pitch with sheer individual brilliance.

In 352 Chelsea appearances, Hazard scored 110 goals and created 92 assists. The skilful winger won six major trophies, too. Even though Palmer’s first two seasons with the Blues were magical, he’s still got a way to go to catch up to Hazard.
