Enzo Fernandez spotted in deep conversation with £20m Chelsea player after Conference League win last night

The opening few games of the season have seen two different players take the role of Chelsea captain.

Last night’s Conference League victory at Stamford Bridge saw Moises Caicedo take the armband for the first time in his Blues career, with there being nine changes made to the starting line-up.

It was Enzo Fernandez who took over the duties when he came on though, with the World Cup winner leading the side out for their Premier League opener in the absence of Reece James.

While the Argentine did not have his best game on the pitch against Manchester City, he also has a role to play as a leader, particularly to a side of young and inexperienced players.

Enzo Fernandez in-depth chat with Filip Jorgensen

It seems after last night’s win that he took that responsibility. A video published by AgusRP on Twitter shows him in deep conversation with Filip Jorgensen after his debut for the club.

Chelsea supporters were impressed with Jorgensen and his performance, with the goalkeeper role at the club very much up for grabs after his £20m move.

Robert Sanchez started between the sticks against Manchester City, with no new signings named in the starting side by Enzo Maresca for their first game.

The Spaniard did little to impress though, with Gary Neville claiming that Sanchez looked terrified at the prospect of losing his place in the side.

Djordje Petrovic not in Enzo Maresca’s plans

Djordje Petrovic is seemingly nowhere to be seen as far as the plans go for the future at Chelsea, despite the fact that he was in goal for more than half of last season.

It has been claimed that there are doubts over Petrovic’s ability to play the football Maresca wants, and this has seen him made available for a sale this summer.

There have been reports that Strasbourg are interested in bringing him in, a move that would obviously keep him under the Blue Co ownership.
