Enzo Maresca has had a number of new players at his disposal this season, and the boss admitted he has been impressed by the progress of one individual since he joined Chelsea.

The Blues added to their squad both before and after the Club World Cup, with Joao Pedro being the headline addition of the window.

While Pedro has received criticism for recent performances, there is far more excitement over Estevao Willian and the impact he has already made at Stamford Bridge.

One signing that divided the fanbase was the late addition of Alejandro Garnacho after a summer-long saga that saw him leave Manchester United.

Enzo Maresca impressed with Alejandro Garnacho’s start to life at Chelsea

Chelsea pushed for Garnacho ahead of Morgan Rogers, and Maresca has now admitted that he has been impressed with what he has seen from the Argentine since he joined.

He told the Chelsea website: “Garna is doing well. Garna is another player who we are trying to manage him a little bit physically, because he arrived here from United not 100 per cent in his physical condition.

“He is working hard every day, he is getting better and better, and in this moment we are happy with the way he is playing.”

Garnacho is competing for minutes on the left of attack with fellow summer signing Jamie Gittens, while Estevao and Pedro Neto feature on the other wing.

After falling out of favour at Old Trafford, the youngster will no doubt be determined to get his career back on track at Chelsea, and he has taken small steps to do that already.

Garnacho beginning to win over Chelsea fans

The 21-year-old was certainly up against things when he made the move to West London, faced with the task of turning around the opinion of a large amount of supporters.

However, scoring your first goal for the club is always a good start, and he achieved this in the defeat at the weekend to Sunderland.

Chelsea fans were actually angry that Garnacho was subbed off in that game, with him enjoying easily his most impressive display for the club so far.

It looks as if the Argentine is proving himself to Maresca to be the starting option on the left, and can expect to be named in the XI again when the Blues make the trip to face Tottenham on Saturday.
