Of all the negatives that have come alongside being a Chelsea supporter this summer so far, things took a far more positive step after last night’s display.
The Blues picked up a 3-0 win over Club America, looking dominant in the first half of the game in particular.
The win was bookended by a couple of penalties that were converted by the club eitherside of half-time as they won their first game under Enzo Maresca.
Christopher Nkunku scored the first one, despite it seeming as if teammate Noni Madueke was putting up a fight to take one.
The winger was handed the opportunity to score from 12 yards in the second half, a chance he gladly accepted.

Cole Palmer to take Chelsea penalties
However, Maresca has told journalist Ben Jacobs that it will actually be Cole Palmer who is trusted with those duties next season.
He said: “But I am the guy who decides. And when he returns with us, for sure Cole is the taker.”
Palmer didn’t miss from the spot last season, with him making finding the net under immense pressure a real skill of his.
His ability to find the net every single time he was called upon is seriously impressive, and a run which honestly doesn’t feel like going wrong at the moment.
Palmer is not scheduled to join up with the Blues in the United States this summer in order for him to get the best out of the rest he has earned.
Palmer could move central
It remains to be seen which position the Italian feels he can play his best football in. Some have stated a transition to a more central role could be on the cards.
There will be no Chelsea player hungrier than Palmer in matchweek one, with him keen to prove again to former side Manchester City that they made a mistake in selling him.
That feeling will likely be echoed by Raheem Sterling, who scored both home and away against the champions last season.
