The FA Cup provides Chelsea a chance at winning a domestic trophy for the first time since 2018, and a first honour with the new owners running the show.

Enzo Maresca’s side are very much favoured to win the Conference League this season, however beating the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City to a trophy is far more impressive.

The Blues have been handed a tough tie in the fourth round, making the trip tomorrow evening to take on Brighton.

An impressive Premier League win on Monday against West Ham was a real positive on the pitch, however worries emerged after that they could now be without a number of players due to injury.

Chelsea fitness update as Marc Guiu suffers ‘bad injury’

Nicolas Jackson limped off early in the second half, and his replacement Marc Guiu was also helped down the tunnel.

Maresca has confirmed that neither player will likely be fit to start against the Seagulls tomorrow night, with Guiu actually suffering from what looks a serious problem.

He said: “Marc unfortunately has a bad injury. Nico is better. Could be a risk [for this weekend] but it doesn’t look like a long injury.

“It looks a long injury. Exactly how long, I don’t know. Weeks or months.”

Chelsea will also still be without Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile, although the latter is closing in on a return.

Chelsea’s attacking plan without Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu

It looks as if it is to be Christopher Nkunku starting up front for Chelsea tomorrow night, with options very limited for Maresca in the number nine role.

The Frenchman has been crying out for regular appearances this season, and even lost his spot up fronto to Guiu in the Conference League.

The Spaniard made a brilliant impact off the bench for Chelsea against West Ham on Monday night, and will be gutted to have picked up a serious problem just as it looked like more minutes were on the table.

Despite reports linking him with a move away in January, Nkunku could now have the chance to lock down a future with the club if he gets regular minutes from now on.
