Enzo Maresca insists he doesn’t want Chelsea to sell £29m player this summer

Enzo Maresca is now off the mark as far as wins go as a Chelsea manager following their 2-0 victory against Servette in the Conference League last night.

The Blues were frustrated and laboured in the first half against the Swiss side, however eventually came through as victors.

Chelsea supporters were impressed by new signing Filip Jorgensen in his debut for the club, however it didn’t all seem to be good news.

Cole Palmer limped off the pitch at full-time, although Maresca has claimed that he is positive that the issue is not too serious.

One of the players who made the biggest impact last night was Noni Madueke, who found the net off the bench after a glorious Enzo Fernandez pass.

Maresca wants Chelsea to keep Noni Madueke

With rumours that an exit could still be on the cards for the Englishman, Maresca told Football London that he is hopeful that he remains at the club beyond this summer.

He said: “I really like Noni. The only problem with him probably is that he has to understand he needs to be consistent during the week; every training, every training, every training. But he is a good player and he is doing well with us.

“Yeah, absolutely [I want him to stay]. The reality is until the transfer window is open, anything can happen. But for sure, Noni is the type of player I like.”

Competition in attack for Chelsea

There is plenty of competition for places in attack at Stamford Bridge, with them being added to this summer by the signings of Pedro Neto and Joao Felix.

While Madueke has by no means been a regular starter since his £29m move back in January 2023, he is certainly showing signs of improvement in recent weeks.

This is in comparison to Mykhailo Mudryk, who seems to be going the opposite way, frustrating his new manager in the process.
