Chelsea’s stacked academy setup have been given sporadic chances to impress this season with the Blues’ presence in the Conference League.

While the Blues have put a lot of financial backing into young players for the future, there has still been opportunities presented to those coming through at Cobham.

Tyrique George and Josh Acheampong have been promoted to the first team this season, with the latter starting consecutive games in the Premier League.

Enzo Maresca a big fan of Samuel Rak-Sakyi

Enzo Maresca’s side were the only one ones to win every game in the group stage of the competition, and this was done without even including the likes of Cole Palmer in the squad.

One player who made his debut for Chelsea due to the competition is Samuel Rak-Sakyi. The 19-year-old has made a total of four appearances in Europe already.

While he wasn’t even seen on the bench when the Blues were amidst an injury crisis in midfield for the Premier League fixture against Wolves, it has been claimed the manager is a big fan of the young defensive midfielder.

In fact, according to The Athletic, Maresca would like Rak-Sakyi to stay at the club despite the January transfer window approaching its final days.

Frank Lampard wants Rak-Sakyi at Coventry

Given his links to Chelsea, it has been widely claimed throughout January that Frank Lampard could be looking to raid the Blues as he looks to continue his strong start to life at Coventry.

The Evening Standard have claimed that Lampard is interested in bringing Rak-Sakyi in to the Championship side.

However, Maresca’s admiration of the midfielder could see him remain at Stamford Bridge, although this does not mean any late moves to Coventry are off the cards.

While Chelsea are holding off on loaning out younger players until the end of the window, it is likely some will be on the move, and there is no better figure to develop those players than Lampard.
