Enzo Maresca will be delighted with how his tenure as Chelsea manager is going.

Maresca arrived at Chelsea from Leicester City last year, and since then, the Italian has guided the Blues to Champions League qualification and two major honours.

He seems to have a really good relationship with his players. Despite being replaced, Nicolas Jackson says he still respects Maresca.

On more than one occasion last season, though, it appears that the 45-year-old was not completely satisfied with life at Stamford Bridge.

Enzo Maresca wants to continue at Chelsea after contemplating exit

Before Chelsea’s triumphs in the Club World Cup and Conference League finals and qualification for the Champions League, they had some rough periods in the Premier League.

Journalist Simon Phillips has claimed on Si Phillips Talks Chelsea that, on more than one occasion, Maresca actually thought about quitting the club.

However, according to Phillips, the former Leicester boss is no longer thinking about leaving Stamford Bridge and wants to continue building there.

His Chelsea side have already made a really positive start to this season, dropping just two points so far.

Florent Malouda has a warning for Maresca, though, telling him to manage star player Cole Palmer very carefully.

The attacking midfielder has missed Chelsea’s last two games because of a groin issue.

One Premier League owner a ‘big admirer’ of Enzo Maresca

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou is set to be named as the new Nottingham Forest boss following Nuno Espirito Santo’s sacking.

However, it has been rumoured that Maresca was Forest’s dream appointment.

According to Phillips, Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis is a “big admirer” of Maresca and would have loved to have hired him.

Of course, Chelsea would have never considered letting Maresca go in the middle of the season. That was always going to be a non-starter.

Everything is in place for Maresca to have a long and successful stay at Chelsea, with the ex-Manchester City assistant coach already tasting glory in west London.
