It should concern Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca that his side are the worst team in the Premier League in one department after the opening six gameweeks.
The Blues have made an average start to the 2025/26 season, collecting eight points from their six league matches. Perhaps the most worrying trend is that they have lost back-to-back top-flight games against Brighton and Manchester United.
Chelsea must try and end their losing streak on Saturday evening at home to Liverpool before the two-week international break.

Chelsea have three red cards in their previous four games across all competitions, which has certainly not helped them out. Hopefully, Enzo Maresca will be able to coach a disciplined and winning performance against league leaders Liverpool.

Chelsea have covered the least distance in the Premier League
It may shock Chelsea supporters to hear the statistic that their team have run less than the other 19 Premier League clubs so far this season.
Even though Maresca’s side are full of so much youth and energy, they are being outrun by rival teams. It doesn’t feel like a coincidence that their players had less time to rest across the summer because of their involvement in the Club World Cup.
The Daily Mail shares that Chelsea have managed 616.4km collectively, while Arsenal are at the other end of the spectrum on 692.8km.
| Club | Distance covered (Km) |
| Arsenal | 692.8 |
| Manchester City | 685.6 |
| Leeds United | 680.1 |
| Newcastle United | 670.6 |
| Crystal Palace | 667.5 |
| Burnley | 665.8 |
| Bournemouth | 661.7 |
| Brentford | 660.5 |
| Brighton | 655.7 |
| Tottenham | 655.1 |
| Fulham | 653.9 |
| Liverpool | 646 |
| Sunderland | 645.9 |
| Manchester United | 644.7 |
| Wolverhampton Wanderers | 643.4 |
| Nottingham Forest | 642.8 |
| Aston Villa | 641.1 |
| Everton | 637.9 |
| West Ham | 637.5 |
| Chelsea | 616.4 |
In fairness, controlling possession and football matches can lead to running less. It is an eye-catching statistic that Maresca should be made aware of, though. We doubt fans will enjoy seeing their side bottom of the running data this season.
When Chelsea host Liverpool on Saturday evening, we suspect their players will get through plenty of work without the ball, so it’s a good job they’ve got the likes of Moises Caicedo and Marc Cucurella in the XI.

The battle for possession in Chelsea vs Liverpool
It will be a fascinating tactical fight when Chelsea host Arne Slot’s Liverpool this weekend.
So far in the Premier League, both teams have recorded exactly 3,229 passes, which is a joint-league high (Premier League’s official website).
According to ESPN pundit Stewart Robson, Chelsea are guilty of passing too slowly at times. Hopefully, they can be a bit quicker and more incisive against Liverpool, but it doesn’t help when star attacker Cole Palmer is sidelined through injury.
Whoever wins the midfield battle this weekend, where there is so much quality on either side, could secure the three points.
