Shaka Hislop has labelled Chelsea’s Mykhailo Mudryk as the biggest flop in the Premier League this season.

Mykhailo Mudryk, who only joined the Blues back in January from Shakhtar Donetsk, has had a target on his back from day one. This is because his deal could be worth as much as €100million (£88million), according to The Athletic.

The 22-year-old winger enjoyed an explosive debut off the bench against Liverpool. He assisted in Chelsea’s recent win against Leicester City in the Premier League, too.

However, Graham Potter is using him cautiously and allowing him time to settle in a new country.

Andriy Shevchenko recently supported Mudryk by insisting he has a massive career ahead of him.

When asked to name the Premier League flop of the year, ESPN pundit Hislop answered with Chelsea’s high-profile January recruit.

Hislop told ESPN: “Because he’s (Mudryk) been awful. He cost 100 million and you can’t get in the starting line-up.”

He was the only ESPN panelist to pick out the Ukraine international. Elsewhere, Steve Nicol named his Chelsea teammate Raheem Sterling. Meanwhile, Don Hutchison selected West Ham’s Gianluca Scamacca.

First of all, we couldn’t disagree more with this!

He’s played just seven games for Chelsea so far, six of them in the Premier League, so labelling him flop of the year is laughable.

Yes, there is a lot of expectation for him to show why the club invested so much in him. From that point of view, you can understand if some are a little underwhelmed so far.

However, the speedster is stepping up from the Ukrainian division to the Premier League. He’s playing for a side which is massively underachieving itself this season, too.

We have definitely spotted enough in Mudryk’s Chelsea appearances to get excited about him.

This is the kind of fuel that could really drive the Blues youngster on to silence his critics and show his true quality.
