ESPN pundit says Chelsea duo were their only good players against Wolves

Don Hutchison claims Wesley Fofana and Kalidou Koulibaly were the only Chelsea players who played well yesterday.

Chelsea’s poor domestic form continued on Saturday, this time suffering a 1-0 away defeat at Wolves.

Frank Lampard was back in the dugout for the Blues, taking charge as caretaker manager until the end of the season, but he watched his side put in a very poor display.

It was a worrying performance for a Chelsea side that travel to Real Madrid next week in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. Paul Merson claims Chelsea could lose by a cricket score at Madrid if they repeat their Wolves display.

ESPN pundit Hutchison named Wesley Fofana and Kalidou Koulibaly as Chelsea’s only positives from Saturday.

The defenders partnered each other at centre-back as Lampard switched to a 4-3-3 formation and moved away from the back three.

In fairness, you couldn’t blame either centre-half for the wonder strike from Matheus Nunes that clinched three points for Wolves.

“I thought their best players were Fofana and Koulibaly at the back today; apart from that, it was a very average Chelsea performance” Hutchison told ESPN.

Fofana, 22, is turning out to be a fantastic addition to the squad.

We fully understand the criticism fired at the Blues for their business during recent transfer windows, but the French centre-back looks like a superb signing.

The best thing is he looks like an aggressive quality centre-back in a back four or back three.

As for 31-year-old star Koulibaly, he’s definitely settled down after a rocky start to his debut season at Chelsea.

We’re not overly concerned of the Blues defence moving forward. However, the attack looks toothless and miles off it right now.
