Micah Richards has suggested that Graham Potter should’ve twisted the truth slightly whilst speaking about the Champions League.
Richards appeared on the BBC Monday Night Club and questioned Potter’s previous comments on the illustrious competition.
Shortly after being named the manager of Chelsea, the former Brighton & Hove Albion coach made an admission about the grandest prize in club football.
Ahead of his very first game in charge of the Blues, Potter admitted that he’d never previously attended a Champions League tie.

Rather coincidentally, the Englishman’s debut in the Chelsea dugout aligned with his maiden meeting with the European tournament.
He secured a draw with RB Salzburg at Stamford Bridge on opening night, the start of a nine-match unbeaten run.
Graham Potter and his Champions League confession
That unblemished period is nothing but a faded memory now thanks to Chelsea’s recent rot.
However, Richards did not forget Potter’s remarks on the Champions League in a hurry.
“He said something in an interview; he’d never been to a Champions League game. And I thought, what do you mean? A top, aspiring manager, should be at a Champions League game at every opportunity,” said the former defender.
“You’ve got to fill the fans with confidence, with that credibility. So, even if you have to lie, we all lie at times to make people feel better.”

Even if Potter had lied on his CV about his Champions League experience, the facts would’ve come to light eventually.
They appear to be staring the Chelsea boss in the face right now.
Unfortunately, the 47-year-old seems out of his depth as the man expected to win titles and challenge for silverware.
His reign has already included departures from the Carabao Cup and FA Cup, both at the hands of Manchester City, and a slump to 10th in the Premier League.
Ironically, the last realistic chance at lifting a trophy is in the Champions League.
