Micah Richards claims Chelsea’s Antonio Rudiger has the type of character that means he’s always involved in fiery arguments on the pitch.

Rudiger, who’s a massive fan favourite at Stamford Bridge, is regularly the first on the scene during any on-field bust-ups.

The 29-year-old’s got a brilliant attitude to defend his teammates on the pitch.

Also, he’s a very aggressive defender that loves a rough tackle and one-on-one battles with opponents.

Interestingly, Premier League strikers Callum Wilson and Antonio Rudiger both agreed recently the Chelsea centre-back loves to fight on the pitch. In particular, Antonio was full of praise for Rudiger’s ruthless attitude and aggressiveness.

Pundit Richards says Rudiger is constantly at the centre of Chelsea’s battles.

“He’s not a trouble causer but he likes that tension within the game. Every time there’s something going on on the pitch, he’s involved straight away,” Richards said.

Chelsea time running out

As it stands, Rudiger will be exiting in the summer when his contract runs out at Stamford Bridge.

The situation is made even worse given current sanctions on the Blues means they’re banned from negotiating any new contracts with players.

A change of ownership before the campaign is perhaps one saving grace, though.

Some of Chelsea’s potential new owners reportedly want Rudiger to remain part of the project.

It’s imperative the Germany international is kept at the club for next season, but there isn’t even a chance of that happening until a takeover is arranged and approved by the government.
