‘Excellent’ Chelsea player predicted to start out of position in Conference League vs Panathinaikos

Chelsea will rotate their starting side a lot from their last Premier League outing against Liverpool at Anfield.

Enzo Maresca will have the chance to look at a number of his fringe players, whilst also hopefully getting the opportunity to give some youngsters a chance to impress.

Shumaira Mheuka has travelled with the Blues for the first time, with a number of key players left at home to prepare for Premier League action at the weekend.

The likes of Nicolas Jackson and Levi Colwill will not be present in Greece for the second Conference League group game against Panathinaikos.

With a number of players getting the majority of their minutes in cup competitions so far, one who can expect to feature is Renato Veiga.

Renato Veiga expected to start out of position for Chelsea tonight

The youngster recently became a full Portugal international, impressing in the process. Diogo Dalot described his performance as ‘excellent’.

After starting the opening group game at left-back, The Evening Standard have predicted that he could be in line to start this game on the opposite side of defence.

Reece James and Malo Gusto are also amongst the group who have not travelled, with there being no recognised right-back in the squad.

Josh Acheampong not available after being frozen out

Josh Acheampong will no doubt have been hoping that a game like this would be the one where he could make an impression on the manager.

However, Acheampong has been frozen out by Chelsea, with there currently being no clarity over his contract situation.

The likes of Real Madrid and Liverpool have already been linked with signing the youngster, suggesting he has a big future in the game

Maresca hinted he did not agree with the decision to freeze out Acheampong, with him already being full of praise for him in the first few months of his tenure at the club.

Whichever position it is though, expect Veiga to put in an assured performance and keep up his impressive start to life at Chelsea.
