Fabregas says 21-year-old reported Chelsea target has potential to become 'complete midfielder'
Cesc Fabregas believes his AS Monaco teammate and reported Chelsea transfer target Aurelien Tchouameni can be a “complete midfielder” in the future.
According to a report from The Telegraph report from a couple of weeks ago, Chelsea could be in the market for a new midfielder this summer.
Thomas Tuchel’s first choice target would be West Ham ace Declan Rice, whom he has become a fan of recently, and would recommend the England international to Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia.
But as anyone would expect, it would not be easy to tempt West Ham to let go of, arguably, their most valuable asset.
If Rice is deemed to be too expensive, Chelsea have a couple of alternative options under their radar; Benfica’s Julian Weigl and Monaco’s Tchouameni The Telegraph added.
Tchouameni, in particular, is an interesting one.
The 21-year-old has emerged as a key player for Monaco, having started in 36 of their 38 Ligue 1 games this season.
Thanks to his fine season, he was named the Ligue 1 young player of the season and part of the team of the season.
Former Chelsea star Fabregas, who is now Tchouameni’s midfield partner at Monaco, seems to rate the young talent very highly.
“He has the potential to become a complete midfielder,” the 34-year-old said on Twitter when asked about the rumoured Chelsea’s interest in Tchouameni.
“[A] modern midfield player.
“But we [Monaco] still need him, sorry [wink emoji].”
