Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Chelsea did not consider signing a striker for big money this summer.
He took to YouTube to state that the Blues were cautious after the failed signing of Romelu Lukaku.
Lukaku is currently undergoing his second Serie A loan spell away from Stamford Bridge with Roma.

This comes after the Blues found it impossible to find a club to sign the wantaway striker on a permanent basis, and therefore were forced to negotiate a deal that only sees him gone for the season.
He kickstarted his career for Jose Mourinho’s side with a goal recently, as he looks to prove he can start for the side over former Blue Tammy Abraham.
However, the addition of the Belgian for what at the time was a club-record fee has seemed to scar the Blues when it comes to returning to the market.
Chelsea scarred from Lukaku
Romano has claimed that Chelsea did not consider making a big-money addition up front this summer such as Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez.
He said: “Lautaro Martínez was never a topic discussed in the summer with Chelsea. After paying big money for Romelu Lukaku in the past, they were not willing to do a similar kind of deal.”

The Blues added Nicolas Jackson to their ranks over the summer, and have started him in every Premier League game this season in an attempt to get him up to speed with the Premier League.
While he has certainly shown flashes of brilliance, adding just one goal to the side this season has ultimately not been enough in the eyes of many.
This is perhaps why rumours have already begun that they are set to make a big-money move for Ivan Toney in the coming window.
