Chelsea spent big money over the recent summer transfer window in order to finetune their squad in time for the new manager.

Enzo Maresca has been praised for the way he has dealt with what is still a large first-team squad, although one that is absolutely packed with quality.

A large amount of his new additions are being forced to wait patiently to make a real impact in the Premier League.

Arguably the signing the club are happiest to have confirmed over the summer hasn’t even joined up with the squad yet. Estevao Willian will join the first team next summer.

Fabrizio Romano has stated that the Blues were involved in a real fight for the winger though, hinting the story revolving the saga is a crazy one.

He said: “How Chelsea were fighting for Estêvão was a crazy story. I will tell you, I promise, what happened behind the scenes.”
