Chelsea legend Eden Hazard is now considering retiring from football following his Real Madrid exit.
That is according to Fabrizio Romano.
Eden Hazard‘s contract at Real Madrid was terminated in June and Romano has told CaughtOffside that the Belgian is now deciding whether to hang up his boots or not.
“There’s a lot being speculated about Eden Hazard, who remains a free agent, but at the moment I’m not aware of anything concrete,” Romano said. “There are a lot of rumours, but nothing advanced, because at the moment Hazard is still discussing with his family and those close to him about retirement.
“Retirement for Hazard is a concrete possibility, but it’s not a final decision yet, and I think when we talk about a big decision like this for an important player like Hazard, I like to be respectful. It’s the player who has to decide and communicate, not for me or other journalists in general.”

Hazard is still just 32 years of age, but he has suffered a lot of injuries in the last few seasons and is currently without a club. When you consider all of that, you can understand why retirement is an option for him right now.
A Chelsea legend
Whatever happens, Hazard will be remembered as a Chelsea great. His career at Real Madrid obviously did not go the way he would have hoped, but his spell in west London was truly magnificent.
During his time in the English capital, the former Belgium international helped the Blues to win the Premier League on more than one occasion, the Europa League and more.

Chelsea were able to claim all of those honours because of Hazard’s productivity in the final third of the pitch. In total, he scored 110 goals in just over 350 appearances for his old side.
It is the kind of firepower Mauricio Pochettino’s struggling team could do with now.
How different things may have turned out if Hazard stayed at Chelsea. But after everything he did for the club, no supporter will be angry with the winger for chasing his dream of playing for Real Madrid, which he managed to achieve.
