Many were being led to believe that the weird and wacky transfer windows at Chelsea were proving to be a thing of the past.

That was until last night, when reports broke that the signing of Samu Omorodion had collapsed at the final moment.

The youngster looked set to make the move to Stamford Bridge, with Conor Gallagher going the other way after essentially being banished from the first team.

However, with Omorodion staying put, it looks as if there is doubt being cast over whether the England international’s deal will go through too.

Chelsea talking about signing Joao Felix to keep Conor Gallagher deal alive

This is something Chelsea are clearly trying to avoid, and are reportedly considering a sensational move to bring Joao Felix back to the club in order to keep the deal afloat.

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that the Blues have discussed the prospect of signing the Portugal international as part of that deal.

He said: “EXCLUSIVE: Chelsea and Atlético Madrid are now discussing João Félix to Chelsea as part of Gallagher deal!

“Samu Omorodion deal collapsing and the two clubs don’t want Gallagher and Julián Álvarez deals to collapse too… João Félix, being discussed with Jorge Mendes in London.”

‘Special’ Felix had no chance at Chelsea before

Felix came to the club on loan during one of their darkest seasons in recent memory, with them finishing 12th in the Premier League.

The attacker did still show glimpses of a player who had the quality and potential many had been waiting to see for a number of years.

He has been described in the past as ‘special’, and impressed particularly in the Champions League in the early stages of last season when he was at Barcelona.

It is unlikely any player could have come into the Chelsea system at that time, supporters have likely not seen the best of Felix during his time at Stamford Bridge. Whether he is the addition that the club need at this stage is another question though, however the desire to get Gallagher off the books seems to be the priority right now
