Despite frequent criticism of Todd Boehly’s transfer policy at Chelsea, it is becoming harder to argue against when some of the young talents are getting their chance at Stamford Bridge.
Enzo Maresca is currently enjoying the benefits of having the likes of Estevao Willian and Andrey Santos available for selection every week at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues agreed a deal to sign Estevao months in advance from his actual move, and have done the same recently for the likes of Geovany Quenda and Dastan Satpaev.
Chelsea have agreed a deal to sign Deinner Ordonez from Independiente del Valle, the Ecuadorian side who previously had Moises Caicedo and Kendry Paez in their ranks.
Chelsea think they have made a special signing in Deinner Ordonez
The Blues have been praised for making this addition, and Fabrizio Romano has stated that they believe they have made a ‘really special’ signing in the centre-back.
He said: “I think a very interesting signing for Chelsea. They believe they’re going to sign this boy who is going to be something really special in the future.
“Yeah, there were two more clubs from England and one club also from Germany interested in Deinner Ordonez. So there was a lot of movement around this boy.
“Because when you talk about Ecuadorian players in modern football and especially coming from the Academy of Independiente del Valle, you have a guarantee of quality if you think about players like Moises Caicedo, Piero Hincapie and many others, including also Willian Pacho, who recently signed a new deal at Paris Saint-Germain.
“Well, that’s very special. What they are doing in Ecuador is very special. And Dennier Ordonez is seen as the next big thing by Chelsea.”
Who is Dennier Ordonez?
Liverpool were also keen on signing Ordonez, however missed out on his signature in a similar way to how they did with Caicedo.
The 16-year-old is a tall centre-back who has already made appearances multiple years above his age at the U20 Copa Libertadores.
He has also impressed at international level. Ordonez already has four appearances under his belt for the Ecuador U20s.
The defender will join the club in 2028, allowing him plenty of time to work on his game before he makes his move to Stamford Bridge.
