With time running out in the January transfer window, it looks as if loan deals are the most likely avenue for players to leave Chelsea this month.
The size of the first team squad was always going to make it difficult for the fringe players to get opportunities for the Blues this season, and the fact the Conference League doesn’t return until March suggests they won’t have much of a role to play for a while.
A number of players are currently enjoying successful spells away from Stamford Bridge. Both Andrey Santos and Djordje Petrovic are showing their credentials during their time at Strasbourg.

Watford to sign Chelsea youngster Caleb Wiley on loan
With Chelsea able to send three players to their sister club, they also took the opportunity to get Caleb Wiley some playing time after bringing him in over the summer.
Despite starting the season for the Ligue 1 side, a variety of injuries have kept the United States international out of action for the majority of his time there.
It looks as if he may be being recalled in the coming hours in order for a deal to be completed that will see him move on loan in England.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Wiley is set for a move to the Championship to join Watford on loan.
He said: “Chelsea advance on several exits. Cesare Casadei and Lazio, almost there as reported earlier today. Santos closing in on Deivid Washington deal, QPR on track to sign Harvey Vale and Watford will sign Caleb Wiley on loan.”

Recalling Caleb Wiley could free up Carney Chukwuemeka loan to Strasbourg
With Watford competing for a place in the play-offs, the move looks an exciting one for the player, but also for Chelsea.
Recalling the American from Strasbourg frees up another spot that will allow them to loan another player to the club also under the BlueCo ownership.
They will no doubt be keen to make this Carney Chukwuemeka, a player who has found minutes extremely difficult to come by under Enzo Maresca.
With no one keen to take the Englishman for the release clause in his contract, it looks as if a move on a temporary basis is far more likely at this stage.
