Fabrizio Romano has now shared an update regarding the future of a player Chelsea have been linked with signing this month.

He took to Twitter to state that there are going to be meetings taking place in the near future to determine the future of Karim Benzema at Al Ittihad.

Reports have begun to emerge that suggest that Benzema is unhappy over in Saudi Arabia, and could be looking for a quick return to Europe this month.

Chelsea are seemingly in desperate need of addressing their situation up top in the coming days, with some at the club not content with their options of Nicolas Jackson and Armando Broja.

The latter has reportedly been made available for a transfer this month, however it feels unlikely that someone will match the asking price they have put out there.

He is also surely not going to be sold unless the Blues make a signing for themselves up front this month, with a short-term option the reported top target at this stage.

Benzema meetings this week

Romano has claimed that there is likely to be an update following some upcoming meetings regarding Benzema’s future right now.

He said: “Understand more meetings will take place soon to discuss the future of Karim Benzema. The situation remains tense with Al Ittihad.

“SPL bosses still want KB to stay in Saudi, even to join another Saudi club. Return to Europe can only be possible with huge salary cut.”

With Chelsea seemingly targeting a summer move for a long-term striker option, a loan is the perfect solution to their woes this month for the rest of the season.

It has been claimed that Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney are at the front of the queue for the Blues, however neither deal is achievable this month due to the importance their current sides leading the line.
