Chelsea caught pretty much the entire world off guard this afternoon when they reached an agreement to make their next first team signing.
It has been reported that Chelsea have struck a deal with Wolves to complete the signing of Pedro Neto, as we approach one week from the Premier League returning.
The Blues were reportedly keen to strengthen their options out wide, with wingers previously playing a key role in Enzo Maresca’s system at Leicester City.

Supporters will have likely been not too keen to go into the new season with Raheem Sterling and Mykhailo Mudryk as their options to play on the left, and the addition of Neto certainly strengthens them.
With a deal agreed, it soon became clear the exact price the Blues were going to pay for the Portuguese star’s services.
Chelsea to pay £51m for Pedro Neto
According to Fabrizio Romano, a deal has been reached for a fee of around £51m, with a potential £2.5m more in add ons.
He said: “Pedro Neto to Chelsea, here we go! Wolves accept bid worth €60m fixed fee plus €3m add-ons as almost matches initial price tag. Neto’s agent Mendes has agreed on personal terms with Chelsea.
“Medical tests booked for Pedro at Chelsea with Wolves keen on Ajax’s Carlos Forbes.”
The only concern Chelsea fans will likely have about the transfer is the injury record that has plagued Neto’s career since he made the move to the Premier League.
There will be hope that the plethora of options the Blues have to play across the frontline will allow him the adequate time to rest and avoid reoccurring injuries, however after seeing what happened to both Christopher Nkunku and Romeo Lavia last season there is expected nerves about it.
However, it is fair to say that the signing has lifted the ceiling of where Chelsea’s attack can go in the coming months and years.
