Chelsea have entered the conversation over the possible signing of another attacker with just days of the summer transfer window remaining.

The Blues have been linked with Fermin Lopez from Barcelona in an attempt to bolster their attacking options before Monday’s deadline.

Lopez has reportedly been promised a key role at Chelsea if he was to move, something that looks difficult to guarantee on paper given the plethora of talent the Blues have in attack.

Spanish media have claimed that Chelsea have already bid for the Spaniard, and time is running out in order to get a deal done in this window.

The Blues are also going to have to convince a player who has been with Barcelona for nearly a decade to leave his boyhood club, however it is now being reported that a move is under consideration by the attacking midfielder.

According to Marca, a switch is under serious consideration by Lopez this summer, with four key reasons being named behind his thinking.

The report goes on to say that a much higher salary than he is currently earning at Barcelona is tempting, as well as the competition in the Spanish side being too much to guarantee him regular minutes.

As well as this, his relationship with current manager Hansi Flick has been up and down, while he has been distant from some of his longest friends at the club in recent times too.

Lopez move could end Chelsea’s interest in two signings

It has been said that Chelsea are pushing to sign another attacker this summer, even if that was to come after the departure of either Christopher Nkunku or Nicolas Jackson.

Alejandro Garnacho and Xavi Simons have both been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, however there has been little progression on either deal in recent days.

With the quality Chelsea have already added to their frontline in this summer transfer window, there is an argument that they don’t even need two new additions, let alone three.

If they move forward with a deal for Lopez, it could put an end to long-standing interest in either of their other transfer targets before Monday’s deadline.
