Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori has admitted his admiration for Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.
Having been at Chelsea since he was an U-8, the 22-year-old apparently does not share the hostility most of Chelsea fans have towards Arsenal.
Asked about his first football hero in a Q&A session with Chelsea on the 5th stand app, Tomori said: “Thierry Henry. My family were all Arsenal fans, so I was following them at the time.
“I was probably just more of a football fan than any team but Henry was my idol.”
Unsurprisingly, when he was asked the first player (playing or retired) he would sign if he were a Chelsea manager, he answered: “It’s either Henry or Ronaldinho but I’ll have to go with Thierry.”
Tomori said he was not content with supporting just one club when he was a kid.
“Arsenal versus Fulham (about the first football game he watched live). I think Fulham won so I started supporting them and then when they lost I supported the team that beat them — I was just a kid and you just want to support the team that wins!”
But the first game he watched live in a stadium was Chelsea versus Manchester City at Stamford Bridge.
“We won 6-0,” he continued.
The Canada born defender has enjoyed a breakout season at Chelsea under Frank Lampard.
The 22-year-old has featured in 15 Premier League games so far which led to his England call-up in October.
