‘Find it hard to believe’: Journalist can’t see ‘fantastic’ Chelsea player leaving unless huge offer arrives

Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher could remain at Stamford Bridge.

That is what journalist Paul Brown believes.

Conor Gallagher has been heavily linked with a move away from Chelsea, but Brown has told GiveMeSport that he thinks the 23-year-old will stay at the club unless an offer that cannot be refused arrives.

Gallagher’s contract expires in 2025 and he has been a target for other sides in the Premier League.

As per the Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur tried to sign him in the last transfer window.

Brown expects Gallagher to stay put and thinks it would have to take an offer that the club’s owners cannot refuse for him to go.

On the Englishman, he said: “He’s someone who’s been so determined to be a success at Chelsea; I find it hard to believe he would want to leave that club. He’s Chelsea through and through, everyone knows it. He’s incredibly proud to play for the team and he’s in there now and doing pretty well.

“And I think unless the owners make a decision that they have an offer they can’t refuse, I think he’s staying there. I think it would be a big, big mistake for Chelsea to sell Gallagher.”

We do not think it will always be the case after Romeo Lavia returns from injury, but Gallagher has been such a vital player for Pochettino this season.

The England international has not missed a single game in the Premier League and has been captaining Chelsea after Reece James and Ben Chilwell’s injuries.

Perhaps, then, he will still be at Stamford Bridge after January.

However, again, a lot could depend on what happens once Lavia is available for selection.

Chelsea paid Southampton a lot of money for his signature, signing him in an initial £53m deal, so you would expect the Belgian to get an opportunity in the side.

It could be bad news for Gallagher and give the midfielder, who has been described as a “fantastic” presser by Gareth Southgate, something to think about.
