Frank Lampard will have perhaps been encouraged by the performance of his players in Sunday’s defeat to Manchester City.

Despite the loss, the Blues had plenty of chances to get something from the Etihad last weekend.

Things don’t get much easier on this road to the end of the season, as they return to Manchester to face Erik ten Hag’s side tomorrow night.

Here’s The Chelsea Chronicle’s predicted XI to face Manchester United.

GK and Defence

Kepa Arrizabalaga will start in goal for the Blues, although it could be one of his last games for the club.

After an impressive spell at right-back before, Trevoh Chalobah will return to the right of a back four.

Next to him will be Wesley Fofana, whose poor pass on Sunday eventually led to them conceding a goal.

A return for Kalidou Koulibaly will allow Thiago Silva a rest before the end of the season.

Lewis Hall will continue at left-back after two consecutive impressive displays for the Blues.

Of course, Enzo Fernandez will continue his run of starting every single game since he joined the club.

Alongside him, Ruben Loftus-Cheek will start as the man tasked with bringing the ball between defence and attack.

Carney Chukwuemeka will be handed a rare start to complete the midfield trio.

Attack

Noni Madueke will return on the right wing, after being dropped for seemingly no reason based on his impressive performances before last weekend.

Down the middle, Raheem Sterling will line up against one of his least favoured opponents, after he missed a hatful of chances against Manchester City.

On the left, it will be Mykhailo Mudryk tasked with making things happen in an attacking front three.
