Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has stated that defender Andreas Christensen will be available to play on Saturday and that he’s been impressed by his recent form.

Lampard has confirmed that the 23-year-old is fit this weekend for the home match against Tottenham in the Premier League.

The Blues desperately need three points in the contest, as a defeat will see them drop out of the top four and replaced by London rivals Spurs.

Chelsea’s manager is delighted by his ball-playing centre-back and mentioned him in his press conference ahead of Spurs.

“Has trained at a good level. He has been playing so well. It is going to be a battle,” Lampard said, as quoted by Football.London.

Christensen has started the last five Premier League games in succession and is back in the good books.

He is a classy centre-back that is great on the ball and he reads play well too, plus he’s yet another player in the first-team squad that has developed from the impressive academy.

One potential criticism is that he’s not always the most commanding figure, which is why he’s had to work for his position this season and hasn’t always been a nailed-on starter.

There is stiff competition between Christensen, Antonio Rudiger, Kurt Zouma and Fikayo Tomori for a spot.

But it looks like he will be starting again given a vote of confidence from Lampard, plus Chelsea used a back three earlier in the season when they won away at Spurs in the reverse league fixture.
