Chelsea travel to Arsenal next week on a run of five consecutive defeats.
The latest Blues result was a 2-0 home loss against Brentford last night, which means they’re still yet to reach 40 points in the Premier League this season.
Frank Lampard’s side rolled over yet again at Stamford Bridge, this time losing a West London derby in front of their own supporters.
Cesar Azpilicueta’s first-half own goal, as well as Bryan Mbeumo’s deflected strike, was enough to earn Brentford another win at Chelsea. It’s now two years in succession they’ve travelled to the Bridge and secured all three points.
Speaking after Chelsea’s latest result, Lampard did give some insight into what he told his players at full-time yesterday.
“I just told the players it is not a sob story that everything is going against us, but I can’t talk about any application things about the squad. They are trying everything, they are really disappointed in the dressing room and the fans should have no doubt about that,” Lampard said, as quoted by the club’s official website.
Some of the tactical selections from Lampard have been very suspect in recent games, including his starting line-up against Brentford.
However, some of those high-profile stars are playing well within themselves and need to take a large chunk of responsibility.
There’s very little that can be done right now to lift the spirits of the Chelsea fanbase, who can’t wait for this torrid 2022/23 season to end next month.

Lampard’s side still play the top four in the league during their final six matches, so it’s hard to see where any kind of positive result is going to come from.
Maybe an announcement over Chelsea’s next permanent manager can be the news everyone needs right now.
Lampard said last night he’s heard “nothing” regarding the club’s managerial situation.
However, The Telegraph claims that Mauricio Pochettino could sign a deal to become Chelsea’s next manager by the end of the week or early next week.
