Frank Leboeuf claims he loves the idea of Chelsea signing Karim Benzema this month.
With only a week left of the January transfer window, the speculation around any potential new arrivals at Stamford Bridge is starting to heat up.
Al-Ittihad striker Karim Benzema, who’s now aged 36, has been linked as a possible Blues target.
ESPN claimed earlier this month that Chelsea are showing an interest in Benzema, who’s unhappy in Saudi Arabia right now.
Meanwhile, The Daily Mail previously said that Arsenal were offered the chance to sign Benzema earlier this month.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano added via X that Benzema can only return to European football if he takes a major salary cut.

ESPN pundit and former Chelsea player Frank Leboeuf would like to see Benzema make a stunning move to West London.
“If Karim Benzema still has the willingness to do and give his best, and gets in shape like he was at Real Madrid, he’s more than welcome and I would urge him to come and score goals at Chelsea,” Leboeuf told ESPN.
“You cannot deny that Karim Benzema for the last decade was the best striker in the world. We would love to have the same kind of player at the same level for Chelsea for sure.”

Benzema scored 31 goals in 43 games across all competitions last season for Spanish giants Real Madrid, so we’re pretty confident he could go and score goals still at any club in the world.
Unsurprisingly, he’s continued to score regularly for Al-Ittihad this season. If he does move in the final hours of January, his next club would be taking a small risk on the player not losing his sharpness at the top level from six months in the Saudi Pro League.
Chelsea may have scored six goals past Championship club Middlesbrough last night as thy qualified for the Carabao Cup final, but there’s still an ongoing problem in the No 9 position.
Even if it was on a short-term basis, Benzema would surely be a remarkable signing for club.
