Gabriel Agbonlahor included one Chelsea player when selecting his dream England starting line-up for this summer’s Euro 2024 tournament.

England manager Gareth Southgate leads his side into another major international tournament in a few months time, where there’s big expectation as one of the favourites for the prize.

There’s several Chelsea stars that have been in and around Three Lions camps in recent times. Ben Chilwell, Raheem Sterling, Cole Palmer and Conor Gallagher jump out as the obvious potential candidates to make the final 23-man squad.

So, which Blues players will be competing in Germany at the Euros this summer?

TalkSPORT pundit Gabriel Agbonlahor has named the England starting XI he would choose this summer.

Interestingly, Chilwell is the sole Chelsea representative in his starting line-up.

Here below is the England team Agbonlahor picked when on talkSPORT:

GK – Jordan Pickford
RB – Kyle Walker
CB – Harry Maguire
CB – John Stones
LB – Ben Chilwell
CDM – Declan Rice
CM – Jude Bellingham
CM – Phil Foden
RW – Bukayo Saka
ST – Harry Kane
LW – Jack Grealish

Ben Chilwell for England

We’d love to see Chilwell lining up in England’s side this summer, but we’d be surprised if that happens.

For context, he’s only played in two of his nation’s last 23 games. The main reason behind that is injuries.

We think it’s a close battle between Chilwell and Manchester United’s Luke Shaw for England’s left-back spot when both men are fit and firing, but that’s very rarely the case.

Chilwell’s played 18 times for Chelsea so far this season, but he suffered a new knee problem this month.

Journalist Simon Phillips has reported via Substack that Chilwell’s suffered big swelling around his knee and there’s no timeframe yet on his return.

Our concern is if the 27-year-old Blues full-back misses out on the England squad announcement today, which is for March’s friendlies against Brazil and Belgium. This is the last international camp before Southgate has to name his final Euros squad.

For what they’ve done in an England shirt, Shaw and Kieran Trippier are surely above Chilwell in the pecking order on the international stage.
