Garth Crooks has claimed to BBC Sport that he would love to know how a brilliant striker has not been signed yet for Chelsea.

Todd Boehly has overseen two rebuilds in as many windows at Stamford Bridge after taking over the club from Roman Abramovich.

Last summer saw an element of panic regarding some of their additions, notably seen in the purchase of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who is now completely out of favour.

A number of the January additions were on show on Saturday as the Blues extended their run without a win following the 1-1 draw with West Ham.

The likes of Enzo Fernandez and Joao Felix shined, as they both show signs that they could be crucial players for the rest of the season.

Again though, it looked as if the Blues were missing an outright striker to convert some of the chances they were creating.

Crooks questions Boehly’s signings

Crooks has claimed he would love to know how the new owner has facilitated the spending on so many players without investing in a top quality striker.

He said: “However, I would like to ask Todd Boehly how could he spend all that money and not buy one genuine world-class striker?

“I assume the Chelsea owner knows what he’s doing. If not, he should get a very good technical director that does – and quickly. Brighton, Fulham and Brentford currently sit above them with a fraction of the money Chelsea have spent.”

There is a chance that David Datro Fofana, who was signed without too much fanfare last month, that he could be primed for more minutes this season.

With Kai Havertz still struggling to impress, Graham Potter may be forced to look elsewhere when the Champions League returns later this week.
