Gary Cahill says he’s noticed something about Cole Palmer amid his dip in Chelsea form, ‘I’ve watched him…’

The spotlight remains firmly fixed on Chelsea’s Cole Palmer because he’s still not scored since mid-January.

The good news for Cole Palmer is that he’s got two assists in his previous three Chelsea games in the Premier League, setting up goals against both Tottenham and Ipswich Town. However, the attacking midfielder hasn’t found the back of the net since 14 January against Bournemouth.

Even though Palmer’s gone through a real dip in form in 2025, he’s still got impressive numbers during his second campaign at Stamford Bridge.

Martin Keown’s prediction on Palmer is that he could see him leaving Chelsea in the coming years because of the current project. Blues supporters will be desperate to see the England international be a long-term starter for them, though.

Gary Cahill insists there’s nothing to worry about with Cole Palmer’s form

According to former Chelsea captain Gary Cahill, the recent dip from Palmer is totally normal and nothing to be concerned with.

He insists that he’s spotted the 22-year-old attacking midfielder is still doing the right things when he watches him in recent games, so he’s convinced he’ll soon be back to his best.

When discussing Chelsea star Palmer, Cahill told Sporty.com: “Am I worried about his dip in form? No, not at all. I’ve watched him recently, and I’d be worried if he wasn’t still trying to take up positive positions, still trying to get on the ball, still trying to play forward. He’s trying to do all these things.

“What people need to realise is the age that he’s at, you’re going to get dips in form. Everyone goes through periods, and he’ll go through another one, where you have a dip in form. You come back. Cream rises to the top, and he’s a hell of a player. So no, I’m not worried at all.”

It must be extremely frustrating for Palmer to go through this goal drought when he’s so used to scoring regularly in Chelsea colours. His overall record for the Blues since joining from Manchester City is 39 goals in 82 matches across all competitions.

Jamie Carragher has noticed a frustration in Palmer because it sometimes looks like Chelsea teammates around him aren’t on his level. We agree that the left-footed playmaker is still the most talented and important player in the Blues squad.

He desperately needs to try to end this goal drought and to ignite some form for an important final stretch of the season, where the team are competing for Champions League qualification and to win the Conference League.

Will Cole Palmer get more help next season?

It would be great for Palmer is Chelsea strengthen their attacking options in the summer.

Brazilian wonderkid Estevao Willian, 17, is on his way to West London this summer. Apparently, Chelsea are excited about Estevao and Palmer linking up together next season.

If the Blues can sign a prolific centre-forward to lead the line, we think Palmer would benefit massively from that as well.

It’s been reported that Chelsea have held new talks with Viktor Gyokeres, the Sporting Lisbon centre-forward who’s scored 44 goals in 45 games across all competitions this season. He’s the type of high-profile signing that would surely excite the rest of the squad.
