Gary Lineker has posted a 10-word reaction after hearing Romelu Lukaku’s apology on Tuesday evening following his recent Chelsea controversy.
Lukaku, who was omitted from the squad at the weekend against Liverpool, has been under immense pressure because of comments he made in December.
The 28-year-old’s interview with Sky Italia last month saw him publicly voice his frustration about his current situation at Stamford Bridge, along with a few other remarks that annoyed some Blues supporters.
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel confirmed in his Tuesday press conference that Lukaku’s back training with the squad after apologising behind closed doors.
However, the Belgian forward has now also gone on record to apologise publicly and clear up his commitment to the club.
Lineker’s response to the Lukaku apology is a brief one where he suggests the case is now closed.
“Hardly crime of the century. Apology done. As you were,” he wrote.

Lukaku can start apology by scoring against Chelsea rivals
If Lukaku can get on a goalscoring run, expect most of the Chelsea fanbase to support him again after what seemed like a heartfelt apology this evening.
It’s up to the striker now to do some talking on the pitch and show why the club forked out money to bring him back to Stamford Bridge.
Some Chelsea fans have already said they want Lukaku back in the starting line-up tomorrow.
The Blues face London rivals Tottenham in the first leg of a Carabao Cup semi-final tie on Wednesday, which is an ideal opportunity for him to write some new headlines about himself.
He’s got the capability to make himself a talisman in this side and he should have even more determination to make it happen now.
