Gary Lineker has congratulated Chelsea legend Didier Drogba after he was inducted into the Premier League’s Hall of Fame today.
The Premier League added on Thursday the next batch of six players who’ve been voted into the Hall of Fame.
Drogba, who won four Premier League titles and scored 104 top flight goals in England, is a thoroughly deserving inductee.
The ex-Blues striker was joined on Wednesday by Sergio Aguero, Vincent Kompany, Peter Schmeichel, Paul Scholes and Ian Wright.
Incidentally, Drogba’s now only the second Chelsea player behind Frank Lampard to be named in the Hall of Fame.
Lineker has reacted to Drogba’s inclusion with a kind message:
Alan Shearer, who was one of the first two names in the Premier League’s Hall of Fame, offered his congratulations as well:

The term ‘legend’ is thrown around too much nowadays in a footballing sense, but Drogba matches that title.
There’s only a handful of players in Chelsea’s history that belong at the head of the table as an elite individual, with the Ivory Coast striker one of the very few.
Of course, he’s been awarded today for what he achieved in is playing career as a Premier League player.
However, his Blues legacy stretches out much further into what he achieved in domestic and European cup competitions.

This new Hall of Fame idea that was created in 2021 will remain a farce until John Terry is inducted.
There are now 16 players in the elite group, with every single one of them achieving brilliant career in the Premier League.
However, the omission of the competition’s greatest ever defender is laughable.
