He will not be joining Pedro Neto in the Portugal squad for the World Cup, but was given a runout for his country’s Under 21s in a friendly against Northern Ireland.

The winger’s second goal was a real showcase of his talent. Picking the ball up on the right wing, he cut inside onto his left foot to unleash a fierce strike in at the near post.

Alonso will have a full pre-season to take a look at the youngster, with the expectation that he will be kept as part of the first team for next season.

Early information on Quenda’s role at Chelsea

In the early stages of his senior career, Quenda has already featured as a winger on both sides, as well as at wing-back.

The Blues have a glaring gap in quality on the left of their attack after summer signings Jamie Gittens and Alejandro Garnacho have disappointed with their first campaigns.

Quenda has not made any demands over where he will feature, allowing Alonso the final decision over where he sees him helping the Blues the most next season.

The future in attack is bright though, with Quenda and Estevao set to play a key role for the club in the years to come.
