Christian Pulisic made a step down in the summer when he left Chelsea to join AC Milan, but it’s turned out to be a great move for him.
That is according to Jamie Carragher.
We witnessed a mass exodus at Stamford Bridge back in the summer, which included Christian Pulisic completing a £20million (Football.London) move to AC Milan.
The American winger scored 26 goals in 145 Blues appearances. He helped win the Champions League crown back in 2021, too.
However, there’s no doubt that the attacker didn’t quite live up to expectation in West London.

Jamie Carragher view
Carragher has made the interesting claim that moving from Chelsea to AC Milan can be considered a step down. There’s the big lights of the Premier League on display at Chelsea, but they’ve not got any European football unlike their Italian counterparts.
Carragher believes that Pulisic is benefitting from a step down with his move to Milan.
He told CBS Sports: “Even though he’s in the Champions League, he has taken a step down in terms of going from Chelsea to AC Milan. AC Milan is a huge name, but right now there’s certain players in the Premier League—Pulisic was one, [Ruben] Loftus-Cheek another—who have left Chelsea and then gone to AC Milan, and they’re getting more minutes and getting rave reviews as Pulisic is right now.”
Christian Pulisic more settled
Pulisic looks a lot more happy in the famous red and black stripes of Milan.
The quick wide player has four goals and two assists in 14 games across all competitions so far this season.
He’s now an important member of a Milan team competing in the Champions League group stages.
Incidentally, Olivier Giroud, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Fikayo Tomori are three more Milan stars with previous Chelsea connections.
Speaking via Sportitalia last month, Pulisic shared that he’s really enjoying his start in the Serie A.
He got swallowed up last season in a gigantic Chelsea squad, so this fresh start for the next chapter of his career has been a no-brainer for him.
We’re content that the Blues have moved on with Raheem Sterling, Mykhailo Mudryk, Cole Palmer and Noni Madueke as their main wingers.
