Paul Merson has claimed that Chelsea have a real problem under current manager Thomas Tuchel when it comes to scoring.
The Blues have been revitalised since Tuchel took charge midway through the campaign, with an FA Cup final and Champions League semi-final still to play.
They are in a strong position in the Premier League race for the top four as well, but it’s a fair assessment that they are not a team stacked with goals.
Chelsea have scored just once in their last three games across all competitions, and the fact they don’t have a recognised goalscorer doesn’t help the situation.
Pundit Merson has highlighted the midweek 0-0 draw against Brighton, and suggested Chelsea will have more games like that from now until the end of the season that could cost them a top four finish.
“Chelsea don’t concede goals under Thomas Tuchel but they don’t score many do they?” Merson wrote for the Daily Star.
“They always give you a chance because they can’t kill you off, and Brighton almost made them pay the other night.
“I think Chelsea have a few more games like that in them yet this season – and it could open the door for Liverpool.”

The Chronicle View
Chelsea do a great job sharing the goals around the team, with plenty of players chipping in with a few goals this season. However, they should be looking to sign a proven goalscorer in the summer.
It’s noticeable how much improvement there has been in the defence after working with Tuchel for only a few months, with the 3-4-3 system really suiting the squad.
If they can find their grove in attack, there is the potential to have an excellent starting XI that can match anyone.
The Blues do have a tough run-in to try finish in the Champions League positions, starting with today’s game against West Ham at the London Stadium.
