Rio Ferdinand felt Timo Werner will play a massive role for Chelsea this year.
Speaking on his FIVE YouTube channel, Ferdinand predicted big things from the centre-forward in his second spell with the Blues.
Werner had a rather curious debut campaign with Chelsea following his summer move from RB Leipzig.

He went 14 games without scoring a goal between November and February, with some gloriously missed chances along the way.
Yet, the 25-year-old still finished as Chelsea’s joint top scorer with 12.
Not to mention chief creator, after he provided 16 assists in all competitions.
Lukaku and Werner linking up
The German arrives into a new chapter of his Stamford Bridge career with a new character added to the story.

Romelu Lukaku’s mega-money move from Inter Milan is all but finalised, as the Belgian begins his road to Chelsea redemption.
Ferdinand believed Werner and Lukaku will be vital to Thomas Tuchel’s attack in 2020/21.
“If he (Lukaku) gets the chances Werner got last year, he bangs 30, 35, simple as that,” said the ex-Manchester United centre-back.
“I think Werner is going to be vital for them, the way he runs off the ball, runs behind, creates space.

“They’ve got real heavy artillery up front now. They’ve got a real mix of talent.
“All different type of players. A real good blend.”
Awesome attack
Opposition defenders should seriously start to be shivering at the thought of facing Chelsea’s front line over the next few months.
Aside from Werner and Lukaku, Kai Havertz, Hakim Ziyech, Christian Pulisic, Mason Mount and Callum Hudson-Odoi make up a scary offensive unit.

All they were missing from the previous term was an efficient marksman through the middle.
In Lukaku, they may have just found the missing piece to their puzzle.
