Graham Potter has just turned down the chance to become the next Lyon manager, where he would have worked with Chelsea’s transfer target Rayan Cherki.
Graham Potter, 48, has been out of work since Chelsea sacked him as their manager back in April.
There’s been speculation this week that the English coach could soon return to the dugout, this time with French giants Lyon. However, fresh developments say he’s rejected the opportunity.

L’Equipe claimed yesterday that Lyon have now targeted Potter as a possible replacement for their current head coach Laurent Blanc.
It is understood that Potter even had an interview on Tuesday with Lyon owner John Textor.
The Athletic says this morning that Potter has decided to reject Lyon’s approach, though.
The 48-year-old was viewed as a top candidate by the Ligue 1 side, but he’s decided it’s not the right time yet to make his return.

Potter’s failed move to Lyon means he won’t get to manage a player rumoured to be in Chelsea’s sights.
Rayan Cherki, 20, is an exciting attacking midfielder strongly linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in recent times.
Now, journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported on YouTube this week that Chelsea could possibly reignite interest in Cherki 2024 and make a move to sign him.
The Blues won’t be able to rely upon any favours from Potter when it comes to a pursuit of the £43million-rated playmaker, though.
