Reports have claimed that one player he could be sold by Chelsea next month was actually brought in solely by the interest of Graham Potter.

According to ESPN, the former manager made a real effort to sign Noni Madueke for £30m, however his time at the club could already be about to come to an end.

Madueke has found opportunities very difficult to come by at Stamford Bridge this season, with him not exactly playing himself into Mauricio Pochettino’s good books.

He was publicly called out for his actions off the pitch earlier this season, with him being left out of a number of squads despite not being injured.

It was said that he responded well to this, with him becoming a model trainer since this moment.

This has not resulted in an upturn in his appearances though, with starts a rarity at Stamford Bridge this season.

Madueke pushed for by Potter

He has just one Premier League start to his name this season, with that coming in the home defeat to Brentford.

Overshadowed in that loss was just how close the Englishman came to scoring a sensational goal, which could have led to a very different story for both player and club.

Due to his lack of playing time, reports have begun to spread that he could be surplus to requirements in West London as early as next month.

It has now emerged that winger was actually signed as a result of serious interest from Potter, with him being in charge for a big overhaul at the club in January.

Some deals have worked out better than others. Many at the club are still waiting to see the best from the likes of Mykhailo Mudryk since his high-profile move.

Madueke however will certainly need to take any more chances he is given if he is turn things around in the eyes of Mauricio Pochettino.
